Terms of Hire

  • Fires are not permitted in skips.
  • You must not load the skip higher than a level load.
  • Skips are for general and inert waste only, no Fridges, no TV's or monitors, hazardous waste which includes paints, solvents, liquids or asbestos. Hazardous waste is essentially waste that contains hazardous properties that may render it harmful to human health or the environment. Many everyday products such as fluorescent tubes, TVs, computer monitors and some paints and batteries are now classed as hazardous waste.   • Skips on the road are subject to the permission of the Highway Authority under Section32 of the Highways Act 1971and subject to the conditions contained. During the hours of darkness customers must provide adequate warning light on the containers and they shall also ensure the safe loading of materials into the containers.
  • It is the hirer’s responsibility to provide the mandatory lights and traffic cones if the container is placed on the public highway.
  • If the skip is to be left on the road, a space must be saved for the day of delivery
  • Any fines or court action summoned by the local authority will be served to the hirer.
  • Customers requesting or ordering vehicles delivering or collecting containers to leave the public highway shall reimburse us in full in respect of any loss, costs, claims, damages or expenses we may thereby sustain whether as a result of damage to the vehicles themselves or the property of, customers or third parties.
  • Customers shall reimburse us in respect of the theft or any losses or damage to the containers whilst on hire to them from whatsoever cause the same may arise (fair wear and tear accepted). They shall also fully indemnify us in respect of any claims for injury to persons or property arising out of the use of the containers whilst on hire to them howsoever the same may be caused to arise.
  • The hire is also subject to the Environmental Protection (Duty of Care) Regulations (EPA 1990), which requires you to ensure that once this container is loaded it is secured with an adequate cover.
